Comprehensive Review of Opinion Summarization
The abundance of opinions on the web has kindled the study of opinion summarization over the last few years. People have introduced various techniques and paradigms to solving this special task. This survey attempts to systematically investigate the different techniques and approaches used in opinion summarization. We provide a multi-perspective classification of the approaches used and highlight some of the key weaknesses of these approaches. This survey also covers evaluation techniques and data sets used in studying the opinion summarization problem. Finally, we provide insights into some of the challenges that are left to be addressed as this will help set the trend for future research in this area.unpublishednot peer reviewe
Mathematical vibration modeling for an electrostatic precipitator system
The rapping acceleration of collecting plates in electrostatic precipitator system determines the dust- rapping performance of electromagnetic vibration exciter. To maximize the acceleration, the resonance phenomena needs to be driven by matching the mechanical natural frequency of the electrostatic precipitator system and the input frequency of electric current which energizes the electromagnetic vibrator. In this paper, the dust collecting plates and the electromagnetic vibration exciter in electrostatic precipitator system are vibration-modeled mathematically to characterize the resonance frequency. The effective mass and stiffness for each mode of the collecting plates are calculated using finite elements analysis and the natural frequency are computed by the method of least error square. In addition, the effective mass and stiffness of the exciter are computed. Then, the whole electrostatic precipitator system is analyzed. A frequency response analysis based on a sine sweep signal experiment is performed on a prototype for verification of calculated theoretical resonance frequency
Improved resistance to Eimeria acervulina infection in chickens due to dietary supplementation with garlic metabolites
The effects of a compound including the secondary metabolites of garlic, propyl thiosulphinate (PTS) and propyl thiosulphinate oxide (PTSO), on the in vitro and in vivo parameters of chicken gut immunity during experimental Eimeria acervulina infection were evaluated. In in vitro assays, the compound comprised of PTSO (67%) and PTS (33%) dose-dependently killed invasive E. acervulina sporozoites and stimulated higher spleen cell proliferation. Broiler chickens continuously fed from hatch with PTSO/PTS compound-supplemented diet and orally challenged with live E. acervulina oocysts had increased body weight gain, decreased faecal oocyst excretion and greater E. acervulina profilin antibody responses, compared with chickens fed a non-supplemented diet. Differential gene expression by microarray hybridisation identified 1227 transcripts whose levels were significantly altered in the intestinal lymphocytes of PTSO/PTS-fed birds compared with non-supplemented controls (552 up-regulated, 675 down-regulated). Biological pathway analysis identified the altered transcripts as belonging to the categories ‘Disease and Disorder' and ‘Physiological System Development and Function'. In the former category, the most significant function identified was ‘Inflammatory Response', while the most significant function in the latter category was ‘Cardiovascular System Development and Function'. This new information documents the immunologic and genomic changes that occur in chickens following PTSO/PTS dietary supplementation, which are relevant to protective immunity during avian coccidiosi
Measurement of the Background Activities of a 100Mo-enriched powder sample for AMoRE crystal material using a single high purity germanium detector
The Advanced Molybdenum-based Rare process Experiment (AMoRE) searches for
neutrino-less double-beta (0{\nu}\b{eta}\b{eta}) decay of 100Mo in enriched
molybdate crystals. The AMoRE crystals must have low levels of radioactive
contamination to achieve low background signals with energies near the Q-value
of the 100Mo 0{\nu}\b{eta}\b{eta} decay. To produce low-activity crystals,
radioactive contaminants in the raw materials used to form the crystals must be
controlled and quantified. 100EnrMoO3 powder, which is enriched in the 100Mo
isotope, is of particular interest as it is the source of 100Mo in the
crystals. A high-purity germanium detector having 100% relative efficiency,
named CC1, is being operated in the Yangyang underground laboratory. Using CC1,
we collected a gamma spectrum from a 1.6-kg 100EnrMoO3 powder sample enriched
to 96.4% in 100Mo. Activities were analyzed for the isotopes 228Ac, 228Th,
226Ra, and 40K. They are long-lived naturally occurring isotopes that can
produce background signals in the region of interest for AMoRE. Activities of
both 228Ac and 228Th were < 1.0 mBq/kg at 90% confidence level (C.L.). The
activity of 226Ra was measured to be 5.1 \pm 0.4 (stat) \pm 2.2 (syst) mBq/kg.
The 40K activity was found as < 16.4 mBq/kg at 90% C.L.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figures, 5 table
Excessive Exercise Habits in Marathoners as Novel Indicators of Masked Hypertension
Background. Excessive exercise such as marathon running increases the risk of cardiovascular events that may be related to myocardial infarction and sudden death. We aimed to investigate that the exercise characteristics can be used as a novel indicator of masked hypertension. Methods. A total of 571 middle-aged recreational male marathoners were assigned to a high blood pressure group (HBPG; = 214) or a normal blood pressure group (NBPG; = 357). A graded exercise test was used to examine the hemodynamic response and cardiac events, and the personal exercise characteristics were recorded. Results. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were higher in the HBPG than in the NBPG ( < 0.05, all). The marathon history, exercise intensity, and time were longer and higher, whereas the marathon completion duration was shorter in the HBPG than in NBPG ( < 0.05, all). HBPG showed a higher frequency of alcohol consumption than NBPG ( < 0.05). Conclusion. More excessive exercise characteristics than the normative individuals. If the individuals exhibit high blood pressure during rest as well as exercise, the exercise characteristics could be used as a novel indicator for masked hypertension
Hanja alexia with agraphia after left posterior inferior temporal lobe infarction: a case study.
Korean written language is composed of ideogram (Hanja) and phonogram (Hangul), as Japanese consists of Kanji (ideogram) and Kana (phonogram). Dissociation between ideogram and phonogram impairment after brain injury has been reported in Japanese, but few in Korean. We report a 64-yr-old right-handed man who showed alexia with agraphia in Hanja but preserved Hangul reading and writing after a left posterior inferior temporal lobe infarction. Interestingly, the patient was an expert in Hanja; he had been a Hanja calligrapher over 40 yr. However, when presented with 65 basic Chinese letters that are taught in elementary school, his responses were slow both in reading (6.3 sec/letter) and writing (8.8 sec/letter). The rate of correct response was 81.5% (53 out of 65 letters) both in reading and writing. The patient's performances were beyond mean-2SD of those of six age-, sex-, and education-matched controls who correctly read 64.7 out of 65 and wrote 62.5 out of 65 letters with a much shorter reaction time (1.3 sec/letter for reading and 4.0 sec/letter for writing). These findings support the notion that ideogram and phonogram can be mediated in different brain regions and Hanja alexia with agraphia in Korean patients can be associated with a left posterior inferior temporal lesion
